Is there such thing as the 'perfect' job?

Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life…

Is this completely true? Can we live a happier lifestyle by finding the ‘perfect’ job or are tough days always going to be inevitable?

We’d like to put this to the test! How many people are actually happy in their current roles and how many people are seeking something more meaningful?

We’d love for you to get in touch to tell us about your personal success stories or to seek our help in changing your current situation.

A lot of us find ourselves wrapped in the security blanket of a large corporate firm with free fruit, average pay and a ‘stay in your lane’ policy at every potential growth corner, whilst feeling a sense of hopelessness by 10 past 9 and a lack of true purpose. Others can only dream of that security or are struggling to juggle a career with having a family and sacrificing job satisfaction by settling for a role that caters to childcare hours.

Do you go to bed every night thinking - ‘Is this it for me?’

There is no quick fix or clear answer, finding the right career takes time and in most cases a few bumps in the road. You may know from 16 what you want to do and go to University to achieve that or you may get to 40 and still feel unfulfilled and a tad lost but with lots of work experience. Whatever your stage in life, please believe us when we say, it is never too late to start afresh. We are big advocates of working with an individual’s strengths and respecting differences within the workplace.

There is nothing to say you can’t retrain however we do like to remain realistic in the guidance we offer, for example, if you would like to switch from a Technician to a Ballet Dancer then yes it definitely may take a little while longer to achieve your dream!

If you’re lost and looking for that boost in life then here are some tips from our People Support team to assist you in finding the right role for you:

  1. Play to your strengths: This may not be something that sets your soul on fire or something you fully enjoy, however if (for example) you’re good with numbers, work with them. If it comes easy, work with it – your income may then set your soul alight!
  2. Don’t be too hard on yourself: If you’re desperate to find your way and the right role isn’t available, don’t give up and sulk or punish yourself, keep going with what you have until you achieve what you want.
  3. Get to know yourself better: Take a career or personality test such as Myers Briggs to get to know yourself a little better - https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test
  4. Look at your day to day life: What interests you and what takes you a lifetime to research or read, you can definitely eliminate what you don’t want to do by using this method. Remember to make a list of both.
  5. Lastly, visit Venatu Recruitment Group: Familiarise yourself with the sectors we cover by visiting our website, you never know, we may be the provider of your lightbulb moment - http://www.venatu.co.uk/
