Health and safety officer

Venatu have been assigned to attract and secure an experienced Health & Safety Officer for a prestigious healthcare manufacturer who specialise in the manufacture of consumable healthcare products.

RESPONSIBILITY

  • To conduct risk assessments on new equipment and review risk assessments on current processes in line with risk assessment register.
  • Development and review of Safe Systems of Work incorporating these into SOP’s with the Technical Engineering Team.
  • Coordinate, support and provide advice to the business on all aspects with regards to health & safety, including any changes to Legislation.
  • Leading regular health & safety audits in every department within the facility.
  • Monitor health & safety KPI’s.
  • Coordinate health and safety inductions and Health & Safety training with the support of the HR Team.
  • Control of Contractors, their inductions and Permit to Work system.
  • Plan and chair periodic Health and Safety Meetings with both the employee representatives and management encouraging a culture of safety and continuous improvement across the site.
  • To support managers and colleagues to ensure that health and safety compliance, targets and strategies are achieved.
  • Maintain a high standard of record keeping in accordance with legal requirements in addition to the Company Management Systems.
  • In addition the post holder is the administrator of the training management system. Setting up all new starters and ensuring training documents are completed in a timely manner to ensure compliance at external audits.

REQUIRMENTS

  • The successful candidate must have a strong health & safety background, with NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum.
  • Experience of carrying out risk assessments and audits- Report writing skills.
  • Experience of handling of Health & Safety / accident investigations.
  • Ability to work across departments with all levels of staff in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrate ability to work unsupervised
