Manufacturing Engineer

Venatu Recruitment Group are currently looking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our client in Gainsborough.

  • Manage the implementation of the plans across the organisation, through customer approvals to volume production
  • Develop cost targets (including process times) for new product and equipment introductions and manage plans to ensure these are achieved in volume production.
  • Support capex proposals and where required lead these through approval to project completion
  • Support the development of a modern continuous improvement and lean manufacturing culture across the organisation
  • Technical support to the Production team on process for new/existing products
  • Responsible for (all project phase’s) DFMEA output review, capacity plan, process map, DFMA, PFMEA, Quality control plan review, OP’s or Drawings, Equipment, Development of: tools - Jigs & fixtures (to control the required tolerance and key characteristics), measurement data
  • Support the prototype build, contribute to the prototype build review lessons learnt and facilitate the feedback loop to design
  • Lead the development and manufacture of internally made jigs and fixtures.
  • Provided technical support in the outsourced jigs and fixtures
  • Lead the introduction of new product manufacturing cells
  • Be responsible for the collection of data to drive conforming product
  • To support and adhere to the requirements of the NPI (New Product Introduction) process. This is to ensure new products are developed and set up for the company in a controlled and effective manner
  • Develop project plans to industrialise significant new products, by working closely with design, prototyping and manufacturing departments
  • Develop and define new manufacturing processes and control documentation to facilitate the introduction of new products and to improve efficiency of existing products
  • Introduce modern manufacturing techniques and drive best practice process


  • Experience of successfully introducing new products into a manufacturing environment, ensuring a ‘no faults forward’ approach
  • Experience and knowledge of industry standard approaches to risk management, including DFMEA, PFMEA, control plans and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Has worked in a regulated environment, ideally automotive, with experience of IATF16949 and APQP
  • Experience of a variety of manufacturing techniques, metal forming processes and their associated costs and benefits
  • Experience of introducing process improvements into an established manufacturing process
  • Experience of statistical methods and an analytical approach to process improvement (desirable)
  • Has successfully managed projects across an organisation
  • Experience in manufacturing process review, improvement & change
  • Management of suppliers and sub-contractors
  • Ability to Concept, Specify, Source and Commission Systems
  • Excellent planning and organising capabilities
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Able to manage to deadlines and overcome barriers
  • Able to promote, champion and win support for new ideas and techniques
