Senior Payroll Manager

Venatu Finance are proud to represent our well-established client in their search for a Senior Payroll Manager. Since opening the doors over 25 years ago they are now the largest company in the UK in their field, and with continued success are looking for a Senior Payroll Manager to join their friendly and vibrant team.

THE ROLE

The successful Senior Payroll Manager has opportunity to have a significant impact within the business. As the Senior Payroll Manager, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely management of complex and varied payrolls with both monthly and weekly frequencies.

  • End to end payroll including statutory payments & calculations, all RTI obligations, Pensions, year-end and P11d’s
  • Management of the commission-based payments process to large numbers of self-employed agents
  • Line management responsibilities for all payroll staff, including performance management, personal development & absence management.
  • Key aspects include ensuring the team stay focused and manage multiple deadlines, build a mentality of continuous improvement and invest in driving the team to work smarter and more effectively
  • Responsibility for the accurate completion of all external returns & statutory requirements including FPS, EPS, year-end returns, P11ds & CIS scheme returns
  • Manage, plan, allocate and review workload of staff ensuring priorities are managed and standards are met
  • Analysing and proposing appropriate changes to systems and operating procedures with the intention of ensuring that the payroll department provides a continuously improving standard of service
  • Ensuring effective communication channels are in place within the Payroll department and the wider business to provide a quick resolution to any payroll queries
  • Maintain and apply up to date knowledge of the PAYE and CIS Schemes
  • Devising policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and security of the Payrolls

THE PERSON

  • Up to date payroll legislation knowledge is a necessity
  • Considerable experience of managing payrolls and large teams
  • Detailed knowledge of payroll systems, taxation and national insurance rules
  • Experience of running self-employed payroll / commissions payments is essential
  • Stature, good personal presence, determination and the highest integrity
  • Strong Excel skills and comfortable with learning and adapting systems
  • Driven and results-orientated personal leadership style
  • An excellent communicator and collaborator who can work at all levels of the organisation
  • Highly organised, methodical and meticulous
  • The successful candidate will see challenges not problems
  • Ability to adapt and respond well to change
  • Fast moving, resilient, energetic and flexible with a commitment to delivering
