Shift Manager

Venatu Consulting are working in partnership with our client to recruit a Shift Manager. The purpose of this role is to directly lead and motivate a team of colleagues within the warehouse operation. The successful candidate will actively pursue changes to enhance productivity and improve site stock accuracy to the highest levels.

  • Salary: 23K per annum
  • Hours: 14:00-22:00 (5-day week including either a Saturday or Sunday)
  • 25 days holiday

  • Ensure that the procedures are fully understood and complied by the team
  • Ensure procedures are in place, trained out and clearly understood by the team
  • Ensure that the management team obtain feedback about how to improve processes
  • Contribute to the reporting of KPI’s
  • Take responsibility for the achievement of the designated work schedule
  • Help maximise performance and efficiency within the team
  • Trouble shoot and problem solve immediate or unexpected issues within agreed capabilities
  • Support the site manager with reasonable tasks that support the wider site progress
  • Ensure a robust efficient labour plan for your area to meet the forthcoming daily, weekly and monthly forecasts
  • Manage the despatch process
  • Becoming a WMS Super User
  • Ensure that the yard area is managed and maintained to an acceptable level with pallets been cleared
  • Work with the transport team to update them on what is loaded, what is awaiting loading and what is behind if anything on loading
  • Accurately read and interpret paperwork
  • Ensure that the agreed quality checklists procedures are followed accurately
  • Ensure that work areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Wear PPE issued at all times whilst on duty
  • Report hazards and any potential hazards
  • Positively support other members of the team both new and established
  • Contribute ideas and suggestions to strengthen work practices
  • Participate in training relevant to the post and team objectives


  • Ideally having worked in a similar role with previous experience of managing people or processes within a warehouse environment.
  • Results focused.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer literate.
  • Prepared to be hands-on when the need arises.
  • Knowledge of WMS.
  • Calmness under pressure.
  • Customer focused.
