How did you get into recruitment? - Laura Watkin

Laura Watkin - Business Development Manager for our Light Vehicle Specialists

My recruitment career started at 18 years old, when I first met our very own Amanda Peters. I went for an Administrator role through a recruitment agency and was approached to be their new Resourcer, helping set up a new Permanent Division.

Once I found my feet I began account managing a high-volume campaign; I loved the quick turnaround and how fast the desk ran! I later moved into a similar role within a new business, which allowed me to progress and grow to a Service Delivery Manager role.

Following this, I had my beautiful little boy and came back into recruitment part-time. I began in Driving before then returning to full-time recruiting for various sectors. I worked on both permanent and temporary as a 360 consultant, then progressing to a senior role within my team.

Since I began in recruitment many moons ago, I have worked in many industries such as Driving, Industrial, commercial, Engineering, and Manufacturing. All of which have filled me with knowledge and skills I still use today.

Six months ago, I joined Venatu Recruitment Group as a Business Development Manager (10 years since I first worked with Amanda). My role is the development of new and existing accounts within the Light Vehicle Sector of the Automotive Team, placing new candidates into roles both contracting and permanent. I would like to add, this is the best move to date in my recruitment career and I couldn’t ask for a better team to be around.
