Tackling Modern Slavery in Supply Chains

04.10.2023

Venatu is an official partner of Stronger Together, a multi-stakeholder business-led initiative that aims to reduce modern slavery, particularly forced labour, labour trafficking and other hidden third-party exploitation of workers.

Venatu and Stronger Together are working to raise awareness of modern slavery in supply chains and provide businesses with the resources they need to prevent and address it. As an organisation we also provide training to our staff on modern slavery so that they can identify and prevent it in their work.

How is Venatu helping to tackle modern slavery?

  • Raising awareness: We raise awareness of modern slavery among our staff, clients, and the wider community. We have developed several resources on modern slavery, including training modules and toolkits.
  • Providing training: We provide training, the training covers the definition of modern slavery, the risks of modern slavery in supply chains, and how to identify and prevent it.
  • Supporting Stronger Together: We support Stronger Together's work to raise awareness of modern slavery and to provide businesses with the resources they need to prevent and address it.

The importance of tackling modern slavery

Modern slavery is a serious crime that affects millions of people around the world. It is estimated that there are 40.3 million people in modern slavery today, including 25 million people in forced labour and 15.4 million people in forced marriage.

Modern slavery can have a devastating impact on victims. It can rob them of their freedom, their dignity and their lives. It can also have a negative impact on businesses and on society as a whole.

That is why it is so important for businesses to take steps to prevent and address modern slavery in their supply chains. We are committed to do our part to tackle this crime and to help businesses create a more ethical and sustainable workplace.
