I began my career in property, working in an Estate Agency where I spent the first 10 years of my career. During this time, I trained under one of the industry's best regional valuers. After consistently managing staff and valuing properties regionally for three offices, I was promoted to a senior role.
I then specialised in the prime market, focusing on the purchase and sale of properties for High Net Worth (HNW), Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) individuals, and celebrities. These high-end sales initially drew my attention to the complexity of the conveyancing process, the intricacies of country estates and farms, and the protracted and complicated nature of each transaction.
When I felt there were no more challenges left for me in Estate Agency, having achieved everything I had hoped for and much more, the world of legal recruitment came knocking. I passed on my knowledge and my trusty laser tape, then set out to find a new challenge.
I reached out to a Recruitment firm I had used professionally for many years, seeking a new opportunity in the property world. I learned about all the different positions connected with the property industry and, to cut a long story short, I started working for them. This role introduced me to the world of recruitment, specialising in conveyancing.
Working alongside a non-practising lawyer, I gained invaluable insight into the technicalities of law. I drew on her experience while using my decade of experience as a client representative to learn what makes a great lawyer.
I enjoyed the new challenge, benefiting from the similarities between Recruitment and Estate Agency – talking to people, solving problems, and matching individuals with law firms instead of houses.
After taking some time out to pursue hobbies, renovate houses, and celebrate my 30th birthday at the Rugby World Cup in France, I felt ready to return to work.
I was approached by Amanda at Venatu, who filled me with confidence to meet with Ian, the Managing Director. I am delighted to join the legal division here and am eager to expand my knowledge into other areas of law.
