The Mechanical Design Engineer at our client is a pivotal role in designing, integrating, testing and maintaining the mechanical aspects of their product. They will lead small development projects ensuring the delivery of high quality designs within budget and time constraints.
The ideally candidate will have 3D Autodesk Inventor experience with a degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.

What will the Mechanical Design Engineer be doing?
- Design, integrate, test and maintain mechanical aspect of traffic signal products
- Lead small development projects from initiation to completion, ensuring alignment with program and budget.
- Collaborate with internal design team members to understand requirements and develop optimised design solutions.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to develop design briefs, validation plans, and delivery plans.
- Utilize 3D CAD design tools, specifically Autodesk Inventor, for design development.
- Conduct and document mechanical design calculations using both manual and computational techniques
- Utilise project planning and estimation skills effectively
- Plus other duties as required
What we are looking for in the Mechanical Design Engineer?
- Degree or equivalent in an associated Mechanical Engineering discipline
- Experience in a Mechanical Design role, senior level experience preferred
- Proficient in 3D CAD design, specifically Autodesk Inventor
- Strong experience in mechanical design calculations and validation
- Knowledge of manufacturing techniques, including fabrication, sheet metal, and plastic injection molding.
- Familiarity with Ingress protection and wind-loading requirements for external equipment housings
- Familiarity with standards such as BS EN 1991-1-4, BS EN40, TSRGD, and DMRB (Not essential)
