We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Workshop Plant Fitter to join our clients team based in the Lincoln area. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of a wide range of construction plant equipment, ensuring our fleet remains in top working condition. This is a workshop-based position, providing a fantastic opportunity to work in a well-equipped facility with a supportive team.

As a Semi-skilled Mechanic in Fleet Services your role will be to service and repair vehicles and plant in a safe, efficient, and economic manner using the skills and knowledge required with due regard to current legislation.
Some of your main duties will include;-
Driving and manoeuvring driven plant as necessary, recovering defective or damaged vehicles, carrying out the full range of technical checks and diagnostic tests required for vehicles.
Observing, recognising & reporting on vehicles or systems defects, or impending failure, assessing, recording and/or costing the repair (as appropriate).
Carrying out routine inspections, servicing vehicles according to the schedules issued by the Fleet Services Manager , and in accordance with prescribed quality standards, utilising specialist services as required.
Examining vehicles, reporting verbally or in writing, (as dictated by Skilled Technician, Senior Mechanic or Workshop Foreman) upon the condition, roadworthiness, and safety.
Interpreting & implementing technical service instruction data, and manufacturers’ modifications.
Maintaining a personal tool kit, special tools, and equipment in a good, safe, secure condition.
The nature of the work may involve you carrying out work outside of normal working hours and you need to be able to travel to locations across the county as required (hold a valid driving licence and able to provide own transport).
About You
To apply for this post you must hold or have:
- NVQ level 2-3 qualification in a relevant subject or equivalent level of relevant experience
- experience of working in a fleet workshop or garage and of all aspects of vehicle repair and maintenance
- knowledge of specification for varying types of vehicle & can provide evidence of your skill in diagnosing mechanical faults
- knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and can apply these requirements to a working environment.
- Technical competencies in vehicle construction & design. You understand basic mechanical engineering principles, can identify suitable materials and tools; are able to understand and interpret technical manuals and vehicle specifications.
- You can recognize and abate all types of environmental hazards, removing, packaging, disposing of, and documenting hazardous materials; seek to optimize waste collection, disposal or recycling; liaise with the Senior Mechanic regarding the disposal and recycling of waste materials; facilitate optimum recycling opportunities by ensuring separation of waste products in the workshop
- The ability to cope with fluctuating workloads and deadlines and produce work to specified time, cost, and quality targets.
