This role is key to ensuring a seamless supply chain, negotiating contracts, and driving supplier performance—all while maintaining quality, cost, and delivery standards.

Roles and Responsibilities of a Buyer
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring excellent communication and performance.
- Monitor supplier performance, address issues, and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure materials and goods meet specifications, quality, and delivery requirements.
- Raise purchase orders, negotiate agreements, and onboard new suppliers as needed.
- Collaborate with engineering, project, and stores teams to ensure stock levels are accurate and procurement aligns with business needs.
- Track and report supplier metrics like SIFOT and address issues such as delays, quality failures, or damaged goods.
Personal Specification of a Buyer
- Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or buying.
- Experience in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering purchasing desirable but not essential
- Strong communication and relationship management skills.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
