We are currently seeking a diligent and enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to support our finance team. This position offers a fantastic opportunity for a motivated individual looking to secure long-term employment, with a temporary to permanent route for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner
- Maintain and reconcile purchase and sales ledgers
- Process supplier invoices, staff expenses, and company credit card statements
- Assist in preparing and posting journal entries
- Perform bank reconciliations and manage petty cash
- Support the month-end and year-end financial close processes
- Maintain accurate financial records in line with company policy and audit requirements
- Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve finance-related queries
- Assist with VAT returns and other financial reporting tasks as required
- Provide general administrative support to the finance function
Skills & Experience Required:
- Previous experience in a similar accounts role, ideally within the automotive or manufacturing sectors
- AAT qualification (or working towards) desirable but not essential
- Good working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. Sage, Xero, or similar)
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
- Ability to prioritise and manage workloads independently and as part of a team
- Strong organisational and communication skills
